You believe it or not but google is everywhere and that’s a fact which does not need any proof. If you get online, use internet then it should not be a problem to believe this. There are plenty of services being provided by google. Moreover the use of internet on mobiles is also growing at a very rapid rate and here comes the need of an application that can synchronize between the google services and your mobile phone.

Google Sync as the name suggests is developed by google so that people can easily sync all the services provided by google with their phone.  Before you begin synchronizing you will be required to have a SyncML profile which you can obtain by following any of the three methods

• Go to Contacts application (Options > Synchronise > Settings).

• Go to dedicated Sync application

• Or by going to Settings > Data Transfer > Sync

The most common use of Google Sync is that people use it to copy contacts from their mobile phone to gmail contacts and then edit the contacts from gmail and fill in the missing contact details which otherwise is very tough to type via keyboard. But if you are going to use this feature only to backup the contents of your mobile, then it will not be of much use. There are other better applications that can serve the same purpose better. For instance you can use nokia’s ovi store of even zyb.

If you are a symbian user then you can only sync contacts but if you happen to own any of Blackberry, iPhone and Windows mobile then you get the added option of syncing calendar along with contacts.
