In a nutshell: The Nokia 6600 Slide is a slide design 3G phone with an excellent 3.2 megapixel camera and a large hi-res OLED display. It offers video calling, an MP3 player, an FM radio, expandable memory and Bluetooth. You can even silence the phone just by giving it a tap. Battery life could be better, but overall this is an excellent mid-range product if you’re looking for an easy-to-use phone without some of the more advanced features.

You might think that the Nokia 6600 Slide is an upgraded version of the 6500 Slide. But that would have been too obvious. In fact it has almost precisely the same list of features as the 6500 Slide, just a different design. Whereas the 6500 Slide was big, metallic and square, the 6600 Slide is compact, shiny and curvy. You could think of it as the feminine counterpart to the 6500 Slide. Although admittedly it doesn’t really look very feminine in the glossy black finish pictured here. In fact it looks like a miniature N96.

It’s quite a bit smaller and lighter than the 6500 Slide, but still quite heavy to hold. We’re aren’t sure why, as the casing is plastic and the battery isn’t that powerful. The keys are quite small too, so watch out if you have extra large fingers. However the screen is a good size (2.2 inches) and is a beautiful OLED display with 16 million colours and QVGA resolution – it’s a stunner in fact. You’ll need to watch out for fingerprints on the glossy finish, but apart from that we have no complaints about the way the 6600 Slide looks. Build quality could be a bit more solid, and we wouldn’t recommend dropping it from a great height onto a hard surface.

The camera is better than average, with 3.2 megapixels, autofocus and a double LED flash. It produces excellent quality results, very similar to the 6500 Slide in fact. It’s also got a competent video camera that can record in VGA resolution, and can make video calls. The media player is very good too, with support for all the main file formats, plus an FM radio too. The built-in memory is rather sad – just 20 MB – but Nokia have provided a 512 MB memory card in the sales package, which is enough for around 125 MP3 tracks, or a couple of hundred songs in AAC format. You can always replace this with your own card if you want more storage space, and in fact the 6600 Slide will accept microSD memory cards right up to a whopping 16 GB.

The phone is a competent internet device, with 3G for fast downloads (although no HSDPA), the excellent Opera Mini browser, plus Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0 installed. That beautiful big screen is a treat for viewing websites as well as photos or videos. Email is supported, with attachments, but no attachment editor – this is no BlackBerry after all. There’s no GPS, but Nokia Maps is installed, so you can find your way around, provided that you already know where you are!

One nice feature that’s new in the 6600 Slide is the ability to respond to touch. By tapping the phone, you can silence the ring or reject a call, and you can also tap the phone to silence the alarm. This is definitely a step up from the 6500 Slide – users were more likely to whack that phone in frustration rather than give it a gentle tap!

We hesitate to say that the 6600 Slide is an upgrade to the 6500 Slide. It’s really more like Nokia decided to have another go at exactly the same phone, but do it differently. It does look quite different, and we like it. We like it being smaller and lighter too. We love the tap feature. We’re less keen on the battery life, and we’re going to warn heavy users to avoid this phone. Most people shouldn’t have a problem though. Overall it’s a nice phone, but not an outstanding one. It’s clearly aimed at buyers who aren’t looking for every latest feature, but are willing to sacrifice some of the more high-tech functions in return for a phone that’s easier to use. The price reflects this too – it’s positioned as a mid-range phone, and you should be able to pick it up on some medium priced contracts.

Packing some exciting features the ZN5 is probably the most eagerly expected phone by the American company.

The highlight of the Linux-powered device is its 5 megapixel auto focus camera. It comes complete with a protective cover and a xenon flash for better performance in dark environment. The ZN5 is also the first mobile handset to feature shooting in RAW and binned RAW formats (the latter produces lower resolution photos while preserving the full color depth).

Some of the other interesting features of the ZN5 are the morphing keypad like the one of Motorola ROKR E8, the 3.5mm standard audio jack and a microSD card slot. A USB slot, a QVGA display and TV-out port are also in the package but we will have to wait for the official release for the full specs list.

Here are a bunch of live photos for you to see what the Motorola ZN5 looks like in detail.

Today a lot of unannounced Nokia handsets leaked on a Flickr account. The images are not of best quality but still they are far better than the blurry snapshots we usually get with rumors like this. All the devices seem legit and not surprisingly the Flickr account of the owner of these images has already been deleted.

But let’s not waste any more time and see today’s catch. Few details are known and most are based on the images themselves.

Nokia N79

Nokia N78 has just started shipping and there’s already a successor. The Nokia N79 is 3G-enabled and runs on the Symbian S60 UI as most of the other devices in this article. The design is rather unassuming but somehow looks a bit like the Nokia N82. Did you spot it’s got a 5 megapixel camera on it?

Nokia N85

The Nokia N85 is again a Symbian smartphone. It has a 5 megapixel auto focus camera, Carl-Zeiss optics and features a dual-sliding form factor much like the Nokia N95.

The Nokia N85 is 3G-enabled too and follows the latest N-series design, which started with the Nokia N81 and which we are hardly digging. So we are guessing – Navi wheel, anyone?

Nokia 5800 XpressMedia (a.k.a. Nokia Tube)

The Nokia Tube is finally demystified. Called Nokia 5800 XpressMedia, this highly exciting full Touch UI handset is obviously spawning a lineup of its own. Armed with something that looks like a 3 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, the Nokia 5800 will obviously not be at the top of this series. A videocalls camera is also nowhere to be seen – no 3G?

We were so impressed with the Nokia Touch UI demos that we just can’t wait to see it in person. And nope, you are not going to hear us say “iPhone 3G killer”. Oops, there we said it.

Nokia 6260

The last of today’s crop is the Nokia 6260. A slider, yes, and a pretty one, we may add. Is it just us or it looks a lot like the Nokia 6220 classic?

One thing’s for sure – the Nokia 6260 certainly got our attention with it 5 megapixel camera. But what’s with that name – Nokia already have a handset dubbed as Nokia 6260?

Computex 2008 The show is at its highest in terms of Windows Mobile handset. Eten and Gigabyte have presented their new ranges which include some feature-packed and even single handset. Eten introduced the first dual SIM Windows Mobile Pocket PC, while Gigabyte is proud to announce the first Windows Mobile device with a 5-megapixel camera. Both manufacturers have something to show the software aspect too.

  Eten Glofiish

Eten has introduced three new models at Computex 2008 trade show. The Glofiish X900 is an update to the already available X800, the Glofiish DX900 provides dual SIM functionality for the first time the platform Windows Mobile, and finally the Glofiish X610 is a minor upgrade to the affordable but powerful X600.

The Glofiish DX900 is the first Windows Mobile device Pro dual function and SIM functionality even managed to win the 2008 Computex Best Choice Award. The DX900 runs on Windows Mobile Pro OS 6.1 and has a Samsung 533Mhz processor. A VGA display and 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM add to the list of features. In addition to sports Wi-Fi, built in GPS receiver, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and a 3-megapixel autofocus camera. Quad-band GSM / EDGE support and tri-band UMTS / HSDPA specific for a truly world-wide communicator.

The Glofiish X900 absolutely enjoy the same characteristics as DX900 – the same size and weight, but it doesn ‘t feature dual SIM capabilities. In fact the two devices share specifications Eten with another device, which was announced in February the CMM 2008 – ‘is the Eten V900 digital TV phone.

The Eten V900 packs support for DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB TDMB and TV reception wireless protocols, which means you can watch TV wherever you are, wherever you go. Glofiish The V900 should be available in August 2008.

And finally, the Glofiish X610 was introduced by Eten as the successor to the already available Glofiish X600. It ’s not much of an upgrade really the only difference is the new appearance and Windows Mobile OS 6.1. All Other features remain unchanged – a QVGA screen, a Samsung 400Mhz processor, quad-band GSM / EDGE support (no 3G or HSDPA), 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM, built in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi and a 2 megapixel camera. Eten X610 should be available in July 2008.

Eten also presented their new tactile interface optimized – Windows Mobile can hardly be called finger-friendly, so that all manufacturers are trying to change the problem in all possible ways. The software solution used by eTEN is actually Spb Mobile Shell 2.0 . It offers beautiful eye candy finger and smear features 3D graphics resembling with the HTC Touch Cube.

  Gigabyte gSmart

Gigabyte has also introduced a new batch of Windows Mobile Pro devices at Computex 2008. The new devices include GSmart MS802 and MS820. The company also presented the existing GSmart MS800 and GSmart MS808, which were announced in February the CMM 2008.

The GSmart MS802 is the successor of the current GSmart MS800 and updates features with a 3-megapixel camera (as opposed to 2 megapixels in a MS800). The MS802 is still a 2.8-inch QVGA, fast 520MHz Intel processor, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and a SiRF Star III GPS receiver.

The other new device, Gigabyte gSmart MS820 is the first Windows Mobile device with a built-in 5 megapixel autofocus camera. But besides that, the GSmart MS820 is a device capable in all respects, because it shows a VGA monitor , A fast 520MHz Intel processor, 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot. The MS820 also manages to impress by the fact that he has packed support this feature in a size of only 14.1 mm.

Thanks to its unique function accelerometer – the G-Sensor – which is used as a navigation solution in several applications and games, the MS820 managed to snatch Taiwan Excellence 2008 Silver Award at Computex 2008.

Unfortunately, we ‘t have the price or availability of information on these new devices Gigabyte.

Gigabyte has also officially launched their owners finger optimized for Windows Mobile interface called Smart Touch. The Chinese version of the Smart Touch UI has already leaked online in April, but stresses that the manufacturer ’s probably incomplete and unstable if European users should take advantage of the official version of the interface.

HTC have finally unveiled their commercial incarnation of the platform HTC Raphael – we welcome the HTC Touch Pro. Based on the call Diamond Touch, HTC Touch Pro embarks on a full QWERTY keyboard of the equation and really impresses with its spec sheet.

Based on Windows Mobile 6.1, the HTC Touch Pro offers HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, 512 MB of internal storage, 288MB RAM, a microSD slot, a 2.8-inch VGA screen, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, GPS receiver and a 1350 mAh battery which is tounted to provide up to 8 hours of talk time (as opposed to 900 mAh battery in the Diamond Touch).

The HTC Touch Pro is a worthy successor to the HTC TyTN II. HTC should have started to produce VGA devices for a long time. The HTC Touch Pro is shorter, narrower and more importantly lighter than the HTC TyTN II – the latter Pocket PC can hardly be called pocketable (pun intended!).

The HTC Touch Pro has a new line 5-QWERTY keyboard (as opposed to 4 lines in the HTC TyTN II) – and it ’s with a QWERTY keyboard that Windows Mobile Pro really shines. So the choice between Diamond and HTC Touch HTC Touch Pro is a choice to reach fans of the additional chip Windows devices.

Among other highlights of Touch Pro is the latest TouchFLO 3D intuitive user interface that allows base finger. The new Opera 9.5 is also part of the pre-installed package which offers unmatched Web browsing on the platform Windows Mobile. A HTC-developed customer YouTube also allow users to watch videos online.

The HTC Touch Pro will be available in Europe, Asia and the Middle East in late summer. North America and Latin American versions of Touch Pro will be available later in 2008.

Nokia is evidently preparing a new woman-centric range called supernova. The new collection will include Nokia 7610, Nokia 7510 and Nokia 7310 which was surprising initially said that 7310 classic. We remind you that as we have already reported that the Nokia 7310 is not yet officially announced, l ‘been spotted at several shops online available for immediate purchase.

The Nokia website Polish also revealed three new Nokia Supernova, which were withdrawn later. The big surprise was the mention of the Nokia 7310 Supernova, which was said (and even sold online) Nokia 7310 classic.

The Nokia 7310 Supernova is based on Nokia S40 user interface and sports a 2-megapixel camera, a 2.2-inch 16 million color QVGA, an FM radio, Bluetooth stereo audio jack and a 3.5 mm. The tri-band Supernova Nokia 7310 weighs only 83g and is currently selling for around 145 euros (220 dollars).

The Nokia 7610 Supernova is clearly the flagship of the range. If it ’s always based on the S40 user interface, the bar packs quad-band GSM / EDGE support, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, a color QVGA 16M, FM radio with RDS and a microSD memory card slot.

The most interesting about the Nokia 7610 is the Supernova rumours ability to record video resolution VGA 30fps incredible – it ‘functionality rather unprecedented in S40 handsets as well as in most phones have in general. The Supernova 7610 will also be a TV output port likely to enjoy these high quality videos on your TV.

The Nokia 7510 is a supernova dump with a primary color QVGA 16M and a monochrome external display with a resolution of 128×160 pixels. Based on the S40 platform, it has a 2 megapixel camera (no AF), FM radio with RDS and a microSD card slot. The Nokia 7510 Supernova is again a quad-band device and the characteristics of new rumours about Xpress is designed to support what is unusual for a dumpster. The foam specifications sheet is topped with a rather high weight of 124g.

It ’s should word on price or availability since the three devices have not been officially announced by Nokia yet. We ‘ll you posted on how it goes.
